Tart Berry Smoothie
I've been getting a lot of questions about the amount of smoothies I've been drinking lately. Yes, I have been making SO many smoothies but I don't eat them all. It's usually a battle between my roommates and friends of who can get out of work first to get the left over smoothies from the fridge. This Tart Berry Smoothie I made this weekend when my roommates were home for brunch. I love starting my day with a cold smoothie, but there can be a lot of sugar in fruit (ex. banana or pineapple) which isn't good to be consistently having. I have actually heard that some people become intolerant to bananas because their body starts to reject the constant sugar rush (I'm doing another post soon about incorporating vegetable into your smoothies to cut down on sugar). This smoothie is super simple - berries, yogurt, and almond milk - and was a great Saturday morning pick me up.
Add all ingredients to a high speed blender. Optional: top with fresh berries, chia seeds, hemp hearts. Enjoy!
I didn't add any of the optional ingredients to the smoothie pictured, but I topped with fresh berries and hemp hearts and added fig to the sides of the glass!
1 cup frozen mixed berries
1/4 plain greek yogurt
3/4 - 1 cup almond milk (depending on desired thickness)
optional: nut butter, protein powder, hemp hearts, chia seeds, flax seeds, fresh berries
