Berry Vanilla Chia Smoothie

If you've been keeping up with my Instagram posts and stories lately, you know that I've been on a major smoothie kick. I am constantly trying new variations of my favorite smoothies, but this recipe is one for the books. The chia seeds and ALOHA Vanilla Bean Protein powder are both packed with magnesium (among other things), which is great for increasing energy and helping digestion. This smoothie is so creamy and refreshing, and gives you the perfect fuel to start your day!

The ALOHA protein powder has 18 grams of protein per serving (which is in this smoothie recipe) and is completely vegan, gluten free, soy free, and USDA organic. It is plant-based and adds such a great flavor. Not only do I use it in smoothies, I use it in my Power Protein Bar recipe that I posted yesterday! 

Berry Vanilla Chia Smoothie
 

Ingredients // (1 smoothie)

CHIA LAYER

2 tbsp chia seeds
½ cup almond milk
½ tsp maple syrup

BERRY VANILLA LAYER

1 banana
2 scoops ALOHA vanilla protein powder
½ cup frozen mixed berries
½ - 1 cup almond mil 

Method

Chia Layer: Place all ingredients into a bowl and stir to combine. Let mixture sit in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes, stirring periodically to ensure even distribution of seeds.

Berry Vanilla Layer: Blend banana, ALOHA protein, berries, and 1⁄2 cup almond milk in a high-speed blender until completely smooth. Add more almond milk for a thinner consistency.

Once the chia layer has formed a somewhat thick consistency, alternately layer the mixtures in a glass and top with extra berries. Enjoy!
